Register for this course if ........

  • You want to find out more about yourself and what you might be capable of .
  • You are feeling uncertain about where your current studies are taking you - could there be a different path that would suit you better?
  • You are thinking about your next step after university and want to create a future that is rewarding and fulfilling.
  • You want to improve your English in a fun and useful way

The course is based on a range of activities set out in the book Designing your Life (Burnett and Evans), which itself is based on a popular Stanford University course, and uses a “design thinking” approach to creating a life that is both meaningful and fulfilling. It is available for around €15 in paperback, a bit cheaper on Kindle from Amazon.de.

Your success in the course naturally depends on your active participation in a supportive "small group" setting, willingness to do some “homework” between meetings, and to explore new ideas and share your thoughts with your fellow participants.

If you have any questions about the course please email david.hopkins@hs-weingarten.de

Student Comments about the course:

“It really helps to now have a tool kit for planning and decision making. Similarly, refraining things such as "I'm in my twenties, I'm supposed to have figured out what I plan on doing in life" helped take the pressure off a bit.”

“It helped me a lot to think differently about my future. I am a lot more relaxed because I learned a few tools to create a good life.

“The book, as well as the talks, inspired me to think more about my future and what i will do about/in it. The book brought questions up which  encourage me to review my life and to focus on new things in my future to get a fulfilled life that correspond to my Lifeview.”

“I got motivated and encouraged to try new things and spread out. Sometimes I lose confidence in myself and my capabilities. I´ll try not to lose it again.”

“By building the Odyssey plans, I was forced to think outside of my box and think about other possibilities. It helped me also to start thinking about building a network by talking to people who do or did the same I want to do.”

“The tasks showed me what I should focus more on. The group talks were a great opportunity to improve my speaking skills. Also I stepped out of my comfort zone by talking to the group in English”
