In this course we present basic notions, concepts and methods of fuzzy logic in view of their application to design fuzzy controllers. In the first three lectures we consider classical (crisp) sets, relations and Boolean logic together with the most important underlying operations. Then we describe their fuzzy counterparts. Every fuzzy notion and operation will be illustrated by means of the Fuzzy Logic package in computer algebra system Mathematica. This package was especially designed for engineers. It provides a very useful and user-friendly tool for understanding both theoretical and practical aspects of fuzzy logic and for their applying to practical problems. As main applications of fuzzy logic we consider fuzzy modelling and fuzzy control. In particular, we design a fuzzy logic controller to park a truck into a parking lot so that the truck arrives at certain position perpendicular to a dock. |
